Laissez les bons temps rouler or LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL! Welcome to the 67th annual meeting of International Doctors in Alcoholics Anonymous (IDAA) in beautiful and historic New Orleans, LA. The convention will be held at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside August 3-7, 2016.

"We are not saints" is the theme for this year's event, emphasizing the spiritual component of recovery. "We claim spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection" (pg 60, Alcoholics Anonymous). Our Alanon speaker will be Al M. from Cary, North Carolina. Saturday night, Penny Z. from Fernandina Beach, FL will be our AA Speaker. Finally, we are delighted to have Father Tom W. from Oakland, CA as our Spiritual Speaker on Sunday morning. We'll have the usual programing of AA, Al-Anon, Ala-Twenties, IDAA Teens. Jerry Moe from the Betty Ford Center will be bringing his popular recovery based children's program for 7 to 12 year olds. Rooms for breakout sessions such as NA, Women, OA, GA, etc. and different medical specialties will be available starting at 6am, going through 11pm. Of course, IDAA 2016 will be offering continuing education credits for medical and dental professionals.

Newcomers are the most important people at any IDAA meeting, and we will be providing every opportunity for them to attend, including full and partial AA and Al-Anon scholarships donated by our members for individuals and families in need. If you know of anyone who may benefit from the IDAA fellowship, please encourage them to apply for a scholarship on or after March 1, 2016.

The Hilton New Orleans Riverside is nestled between Poydras Street and the "Mighty Mississippi River", immediately next door to the family friendly Audubon Aquarium, IMAX Theater, Mother's Restaurant and only minutes away from Canal Street, Cafe Du Monde and St. Louis Cathedral. Don't forget to check out the Butterfly Garden, Audubon Park and Audubon Zoo. There is world class shopping on Canal Street and in the Shops at Canal Place and the Riverwalk. Take a leisurely carriage ride through the historic French Quarter which offers some of the best restaurants in the world along with wonderful shopping and historic tours for all ages. If you love to fish, you are in the heart of some of the best fresh and saltwater fishing in the country. Redfish and speckled trout are to be had in the coastal waters. Deep sea fishing can land you red snapper, grouper, king mackerel, tuna and marlin. Guided swamp tours are also available.
