IDAA Annual Meeting 2008
Join us at the Red Lion Hotel on the Columbia River
Our theme is "Happy Destiny".
The setting for IDAA 2008 is the glorious Pacific Northwest, an area very conducive to contemplating the Happy Destiny which we hope to achieve through our daily practice of the Alcoholics Anonymous and related twelve step programs.
The Red Lion Hotel is situated on the banks of the Columbia River and is a 10 minute ride from the heart of beautiful downtown Portland and a brief ride from modern Portland International Airport. Newly renovated, this resort-style hotel has several function rooms and a large pool complex, which overlook the river. Suites for families will be available at the adjacent Oxford Suites. The majestic Oregon and Washington coasts are an hour away. Mount Hood with its lodges & scenic chairlifts and Mount St. Helens National Monument with dramatic overlooks are both close by, while Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., Portland's sister cities, are readily accessible by car, train, and plane.
As always, IDAA 2008 will feature a variety of recovery programs for all family members who attend. Sessions for AA, Al-Anon, IDAA Teen, and our popular recovery-based children's program for 7 to 12 year olds are returning to insure the most valuable experience for all ages and programs. The Ala-Twenty (and beyond) program, for "matured" IDAA Teens, has become a strong and growing component of the meeting.
New attendees are, of course, the life blood of our conference. Thanks to the ongoing generosity of our members, partial or full AA and Al-Anon scholarships are available for individuals and families in need. If you know of anyone who may benefit from the IDAA fellowship, please encourage them to apply for a scholarship.
We encourage you to take advantage of the wonders of both the Portland area and the entire Pacific Northwest. We will have help available for those who wish to plan their own pre- or post-meeting trips. Also, several organized tours will take place before and during the conference, including boat excursions on the Columbia Gorge, shopping and historic tours of Portland, a tour of Mt. St. Helens National Monument, and a trip to the Oregon Coast and Tillamook Cheese Factory.
The local arrangement committee looks forward to hosting the 2008 meeting and hopes to see many new and old members. Check us out and register online for the meeting. Please make your hotel reservations as early as possible.
