IDAA 2003

Children and Alateens

Our childcare will be provided by "My Favorite Nanny" based in Mobile, Alabama. Care will be provided for 1-6 year olds from 10:00a-10:00pm at the hotel. "My Favorite Nanny" carefully selects their nannies. They perform a complete back- ground check on each nanny including criminal, driving and six references in the childcare field. Each nanny is CPR certified and is insured. All nannies are highly experienced and provide superior care.

This program was such a hit in Palm Springs that Jerry Moe agreed to bring it to Mobile. This is a 3 day Betty Ford Center educational program for children ages 7-12 living in families impacted by alcoholism or other drug addictions. This program utilizes art, games, story telling, films, written exercises, role play and recreation to help youngsters build strengths and deepen their resilience. Skilled counselors lead the groups for children. Parents will participate with children for part of the last day. This program will be offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00am-4:00pm. Children attending this program will be able to join our childcare program from 4:00pm-10:00pm. We are limited to 30 children in this program so please register your child early!!!

We will be offering a full program for the Alateens. Bob and Twila Grandchamp will be returning as the Alateen sponsors. Parents will be required to sign an Alateen World Release Form that releases IDAA from any harm that might occur in the Alateen room when the sponsors are not present. In the best interest of our members and the Alateens, the Local Arrangements Committee has made the decision to close the Alateen room daily from 1:00am-7:00am.
