The Grande Lakes JW Marriott is located 10 miles from the airport and does not offer complimentary transportation to or from the airport. If you arrive by air you will need to take a taxi, shuttle, or rent a car to reach the hotel.

  • TAXI
    Rates for a taxi are $45.00USD one-way.

  • RENTAL CARS
The Orlando area is served by most of the US car rental firms. Many have desks located in the airport and some have shuttles to off-airport locations.

We have made arrangements with AVIS for a special group rate. To make a reservation with them you may either call (800) 331-1600 and give them the AWD number (D900963) or click on the following link which will take you directly to the Avis website set aside for us.

Because of the volume of the car rental business in Orlando there are some real bargains to be had particularly when booked early. You may wish to check rates and availability with several firms for the best deal.

If you are driving come prepared. A map is available elsewhere on this website which can be downloaded and printed. Four or five dollars in US coins, while not essential, will help expedite your journey through the numerous toll plaza's on the routes between the airport and the hotel.

  • SHUTTLE SERVICE
Mears Motor Shuttle offers shared/ride service 24/7 with departures every 20-30 minutes from the airport. Currently JW Marriott is both the first stop departing the airport and the last pickup on the return. The cost is $24USD for adults and $20USD for children with a $3 discount available on these fares. To receive get this discount you must bring one coupon for each passenger to the MEARS ticket counter. A coupon can be obtained by clicking here and printing the coupon(s).

Mears ticket counters are available on each level of the airport. Perhaps, most conveniently, you should first claim your luggage and then proceed down one floor to the transportation level. There the Mears ticket counter can easily be seen adjacent to their shuttle boarding area.

ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION

Throughout your stay in Florida people may offer you bareback alligator rides. Do not try this if you wish to return home. People who sell rides on alligators, a generally disarming lot, are adept at putting the bite on tourists. These rides may unexpectedly cost you more than you have bargained for - sometimes an arm and a leg. Our advice is that you wave them off at once while you still possess that ability.
